Chinanews, Beijing, May 17 - According to a report by CCTV, the technologies used in the exploitation of Bohai Bay oil fields are among the most advanced in the world.The discovery of Dongnanbao Oil Field hit a new record in 40 years. It is estimated that the annual oil output of Bohai Bay will reach the 10-million-ton mark in the next five years.Currently, there are 7 oil fields in the Bohai Bay district, after 40 years of development. In 2006 alone, nearly 70 million tons of crude oil were produced here.China's total crude oil output in 2006 was 184 million tons, of which some 145 million tons were imported. It can be estimated that China's oil consumption will grow in the future. The discovery of Dongnanbao Oil Field is surely good news in that it will ease China's energy shortage.
