Chinanews, Beijing, December 11 – According to the joint survey conducted by UNICEF and China Children’s Press & Publication Group, 72.9% of Chinese kids complain about their having to “squeeze” time to do what they are interested in, and 75.4% of the parents admit the fact. Some 9.5% of the parents don’t think that their kids have any spare time to do whatever they like.The survey was conducted in several provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, covering nearly 10,000 pupils and their parents as respondents.About 76.7% of the responding pupils aged between 7 and 10 are interested in all the courses available at school, while another 23.3% of them only find one or two courses interesting. The pupils aged between 11 and 13 take less interest than their younger counterparts in school courses, as they are faced with the pressure of entering high school. Meanwhile, a large proportion of parents of higher-grade kids don’t support their kids to spend time on the things that is irrelevant to examinations.Besides, not many schools have good environment for kids to develop their interest, nor are such chances available at home at present.
