Chinanews, Chengdu, March 28 – Sichuan Basin is one of the major gas zones in China. After the discovery of the great Puguang Gas Field in Dazhou of Sichuan Province in 2006, another gigantic gas field was recently found in Lishan near Dazhou.The proved reserves of the new gas field are at least 300% of the reserves of Puguang Gas Field. Currently more than 20,000 staff members of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) are working in the new gas field.The first sign of the existence of the great gas field turned up in early 2006, when Longgang No. 1 well generated an amazing daily output of 1.20 million cubic meters of natural gas after drilling to a depth of some 6,500 m.After the success of the No. 1 well, good news came one after another from the drilling of No.2, No.3 and No.11 wells, which strengthened CNPC's confidence in developing a gigantic gas field.Besides its huge reserves, the natural gas from Lishan is also of very good quality, as it contains very little sulfur (about 30 g in every cubic meter).
