Chinanews, Xining, Mar. 30 – Recently, the Meteorological Bureau of Qinghai revealed that the area of the sources of the three great rivers was continuously shrinking, which indicated the environmental condition around the regions was deteriorating seriously.Qinghai Province is located in the northeastern part of Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, which is the origin of the Yangtze River, the Yellow River, and the Lancang River. Human activities in the area have worsened the problem.The bureau has monitored the area through materials, which gatered by satellite also provide proof of the deterioration. Compared with statistics of 2005, the area of the Zhaling and Eling lakes has been shrunken by 24.87 sq km and 16.62 sq km respectively. Statistics also find that the area of Qinghai Lake，which had enlarged by 9.95 sq km in the flood season, and has shrunken by 10.07 sq km in the recent low water season.Fu Yang, an expert from Meteorological Research Institute of Qinghai, pointed out the area of sources of the three rivers has been deteriorating for years.
