According to the latest data by the Chinese Foundation for Hepatitis Prevention and Control, nearly 500 thousand Chinese die of serum hepatitis or other diseases related to it every year.Currently, about 120 million Chinese are proved to be hepatitis B surface antigen positive, with 30 million of them suffering from chronic serum hepatitis," said Wang Zhao, the director of the Foundation. "Serum hepatitis has become one of the most severe public health problems in China."A public educational program on the disease was launched in Beijing on April 8, whereby 120 lectures will be offered by the hospitals of big Chinese cities, and free documents on hepatitis will be distributed, too
